Windows VISTA

I was listening to the Channel 9 episode on Windows VISTA kernel. Hmm the ‘isolation’ that they have been talking so much about (everyone of the speakers was insisting on this new ‘process’). What is weird is that this is EXACTLY how the *NIX systems have always been built. One can modify X server without having to worry about the kernel versions. Or am I missing something fundamental here?
The one difference is that they kind of ‘binary’ level compatibility that they are talking about. It sounds interesting.
